Appendix F Changelog

All changes made to the notes during the semester (e.g. typos corrected, new exercises or figures added) will be listed here. For changes between semesters, see History of the unit in the Front Matter.

3 February.

Add ‘strong’ to the titles of Theorem 1.2 and Theorem 1.4 to be more consistent with Chapter 3.

6 February.

Release solutions to the unassigned Exercise 1.1.4.

12 February.

  • Slightly tweak the notation in Section 2.3 to be more internally consistent and also more consistent with Section 2.2.
  • Add a paragraph after Remark 2.17 emphasising that applying the chain rule often requires either giving names to the functions involved, or equivalently giving names to some of the intermediate variables.

15 February.

Hopefully improve styling of certain links in the html output (by merging this pull request).

19 February.

Slightly rework Exercise 2.7.1.

26 February.

Fix a typo in Remark 3.3, had written \(Lu \ge 0\) twice when the instance should have been \(Lu \le 0\text{.}\)

6 March.

  • Fix a small typo in Theorem 3.9: ‘be’ was written instead of ‘is’.
  • Remove a corollary (formerly Corollary 6.4) from Section 6.2 which had already been integrated into one of the cases of Theorem 3.2. Unfortunately this shifts the numbers of all subsequent results in this chapter.

10 March.

11 March.

Slightly tweak the language in the last sentence of the proof of Lemma 4.5, and fix a typo in the last sentence of the proof of Theorem 4.6.

11 March.

  • Reorder the proof of Lemma 4.7 in an effort to make it more intuitive.
  • Release solutions to the unassigned Exercise 2.9.4, which offers some more multivariable calculus practice. If this had been a problem sheet exercise there would have been some hints.
  • Release solutions to the unnassigned Exercise 3.2.1 and Exercise 3.3.3.
  • Release solutions (such as they are) for the extended exercise in Section 3.4.

19 March.

Rephrase the first part of Exercise 4.2.2 to make it less ambiguous.

28 March.

Expand Appendix G with commentary on past exams. The link on the library website to the 2020 exam is broken, and so I’ve uploaded this to the Moodle page (also linked to in Section G.7).

22 April.

Expand Appendix G with some student questions about the exam, currently all from previous years.
