This is a closed-book exam written by me, and is a very good model for this year’s exam. We have gone through some of the questions together in Problems classes. Of course no single exam can cover all of what we did during the unit, and so you should not expect this year’s exam to involve precisely the same topics.
This year we have given a slightly different presentation of the second half of Section 4.1, explicitly stating Lemma 4.5 and including the final part about the convergence of first and second partials. This has the side effect of making Question 2(d)(iii) a bit easier than it would have been for students last year, probably a bit too easy to still count as ‘first class marks’.
